(Macintosh® Demonstration Version).
What is CineMac for Director?
CineMac for Director is a software toolkit that enables you to create
screen savers from Macromedia Director® Projectors.
The demonstration version creates screen savers that time-out one week
after they are built.
There is also a Windows® version - eMail us if you'd like a demo!
What’s new in version 1.5
• Support for Director 7 - including slim projectors and internet updating
• Variable length of time expiring screen savers (for creating demo screen savers)
• Optional mute button (for screen savers with sound)
• Better support for multiple monitors
• New control panel user interface
• Live updating customization windows
...and a plethora of small bug fixes
What do I need to use it?
To use CineMac for Director, you will need a Director Projector that you would like to turn into a screen saver.
It is easiest to use a projector that is :
• completely self-contained
• does not utilize shared cast members
• does not have pointers to other files
• allows the user to quit in a convenient way.
  – either by using lingo (see the sample script)
  – or setting CineMac to control termination (set in preferences).
• blanks the entire screen. Since screens vary in size and the stage is usually fixed you may need to cover the screen area not covered by the stage. For Director 4 use the “Backdrop” XObject to darken the screen behind the stage. For Director 5, 6, 6.5 & 7 you can select the "Full Screen" option when you create your projector. Director 5 & 6 will only blank the main monitor if you have more than one screen you may still want to use BackDrop. Director 7 appears to blank all connected monitors.
More complex projects with external files work just fine with CineMac. But you must ensure all files are installed where the CineMac screen saver can find them (usually in the control panels folder), A third party installer may simplify this.
Director 7 supports “netlingo” which allows you to update movies with content from the internet. This functionality is supported by CineMac, but you should be aware that your screen saver activating may force a connection to the internet.
Using CineMac to Create Screen Savers
1.) Run the CineMac for Director application.
2.) Set the preferences (Mute button, interactivity, custom graphics, etc.)
3.) Select "Convert Projector" from the "File" menu.
Choose your Projector using the dialog box presented.
You will then be asked to save your new screen saver, using a standard
save dialog box.
4.) Choose a name for your new screen saver, using the dialog box presented.
your Projector, leaving the original Projector unchanged.
5.) Copy the resulting CineMac screen saver into your "Control Panels" Folder,
and restart.
Using the CineMac control panel, set up the “sleep now” corner of your
desktop, and to set the timeout interval for the screen saver.
Congratulations. Your screen saver is fully set up and will play your
Projector when your computer is idle for longer than the amount of time you
set in the control panel!
